ISYS OUTDOORS Newsletter 2008/04 Website changes
This is the Newsletter for users of ISYS OUTDOORS Software: Hillwalker, MapWise, PhotoMaps and Alpiniste. This edition contains information on some important changes on the way we will work.
PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS NEWSLETTER, as it will not be read. ISYS OUTDOORS contact details are at the end. Please keep your contact with ISYS and the isysoutdoors website to minimum over the next two weeks.
It has been a long time since the last Newsletter. This is only the third this year. However, this one does explain some changes we are making and how you can help.
The Yahoo group is doing great things with the level of calls to ISYS Support well down. This has enabled us to look at the website and work out how to improve it. Immediately we realised that the current host will be inadequate for the future. We are therefore changing our Host. The new site is already installed at the new location, but don't hold your breath - it is exactly the same as the current site. The reason for the change will become apparent over the next few months.
While we were making changes, we thought we would change out telecoms suppliers, broadband supplier and upgrade our local server. Yes, it is all going to happen over the next two weeks. If you don't get a response from us by email or telephone, please be patient and try again in after 11 September. I think is inevitable that we will loose emails and telephone messages but please bear with us, we will come back.
The thought is that by doing everything at once, the disruption will be kept to a minimum.
We continue to get emails to addresses other than
support
Up until now, we have just answered these although not all email inboxes are looked at as often as Support. As our email gets more automated, you will get a far better service if you remember these two simple rules:
While the Yahoo Group seems mainly to be used to help user of the programs, it can be used to discuss walks. I notice that several users have posted photographs on the site.
This is also the home of help to post to Vista and of the special (free) version of GPSU.
The Mode of the program determines what happens when you click a map. The Mode is shown in the cyan rectangle on the main button bar.
Walk long and safely

The secretary walked into her boss' office and announced, "I'm afraid I have bad news for you."
"Kelly", said the boss, "Why do you always bring me bad news? Try to be more positive."
"OK", she said. "The good news is you're not sterile..."
